-951 Error with Visual Cafe to Informix SE

When I try to connect from Visual Cafe (dbAnywhere using the included native Informix db drivers) to an Informix SE 7.2 database, I get a -951 error. However, I am logged on as the "user" that is "not known on the database server." dbAccess does not give me this error; it works as expected. My system is an NT4.0 Workstation and I am running both the SE engine and dbAnywhere on that one system using sqlexecd and the sesoctcp protocol. The system is dual-homed; I have both system names in the hosts.equiv file. Any thoughts on why I am getting this error and what I can do to fix it would be appreciated.
