Innovator-C Edition now down to 1 CORE
Posted in 2012
A user noticed IBM's web page now describes the free Informix Innovator-C Edition as limited to 1 core and 2GB RAM (previously 4 cores / 1 socket), and reported the download link was broken. Carlton Doe confirmed the licence terms had indeed been changed to 1 core and 2GB per install. Much of the thread is banter comparing this to DB2 Express-C (2 cores/4GB). A later poster tested 11.70.FC5IE and found the binary still enforced 4 CPU VPs, 2GB shared memory and no PDQ, and said he obtained the download via his IBM sales rep on Fix Central. The discrepancy between the stated licence and the enforced limits is left unresolved.

Tested the limits and found the following:
IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.70.FC5IE -- On-Line -- Up 00:00:12 --165604 Kbytes
10:28:46 Warning: The IBM IDS Innovator-C Edition license restriction limits
the number of CPUs on this machine to 4.
The number of the CPU VPs has been reset.
10:28:49 Warning: PDQ functionality is not supported in IDS Innovator-C
Edition.
10:28:46 Warning: The IBM IDS Innovator-C Edition license restriction limits
10:28:46 the total shared memory size for this server to 2097152 KB.
10:28:46 The maximum allowable shared memory was reset to this size to start
the database server.
Looks like it is limiting the VPCLASS to 4 CPU and 2GB total memory with no
PDQ.
I was able to download the FC5 by contacting my IBM sales rep and they placed
the link on fix central.
FYI
is this new Innovator or Old?
