Re: Differences SE 5.00 and SE 5.01

Hi Christoph You sit with one big problem, Delphi and the BDE. Dump the BDE and use a product that replace it talking directly to ODBC API. The BDE does funny things some time. Use a SQL Trace and see what I mean what funny calls are made. Just to many BUGS and sometimes SLOW. Talk ODBC with ODBCExpress. I have tested INFORMIX 5 SE, 5.01 Online, 5.08 Online on SCO UNIXWARE and 7.2 Online on NT. Delphi 2 needs ICONNECT ver 7.2, also works with CLI 7.2 but give GP when DB terminate. ICONNECT 7.2 talks to all the above INFORMIX versions OK. Download a trail copy somewhere at the INFORMIX web site. The latest ODBC release of Intersolv is ver 3. Download a trail copy of ODBCExpress for Delphi at www.odbcexpress.com. Try to use openlink workgroup ODBC. With this we outperform the BDE + native by about 5 to 1 in retrieving records. I do not see any reason to upgrade INFORMIX unless of BUG fixes if any? Hope it Helps Hannes Christoph Steuer <csteuer@ttt.de> wrote in article <33BCC3D9.7DB9@ttt.de>... > I am trying to use Delphi 3.0 as a frondend for an Informix SE 5.00 > (under SCO-Unix).
