Problems with synonyms on two Informix Servers

I have two Informix Server (I1 and I2) on two UNIX machines. I execute one process (programmed in Informix 4GL) on I1 and it uses synonyms and local tables. When the process is consulting the synonyms, the process doesn't respond. Nevertheless if I send a consultation directly (for example select * from synonym_name) sometimes it works. that it happens? Thanks
