Moving raw space to different volume group

We create raw disk space for Informix 6.0 under HPUX 9.04 using SAM as follows: 1. Create logical volume under SAM. SAM creates /dev/vgnn/rlvolnn and /dev/vgnn/lvolnn. 2. chown informix /dev/vgnn/rlvolnn 3. chgrp informix /dev/vgnn/rlvolnn 4. chmod 660 /dev/vgnn/rlvoln 5. ln -s /dev/vgnn/rlvolnn DBSnn 6. We then allocate the dbspace(s) within What I'd like to do is to move this data from the physical volume in its original vg to another physical volume within a different vg. I would also like to avoid redefining and reloading the data if possible since the databases could be extremely large. I was thinking that I might be able to create a new vg following steps 1 through 5 (omitting 6) and then using a utility such as dd to copy the data then drop the link to the old vg, and reestablish the link to the new vg. Would this work? Has anyone ever done this or does anyone have any other ideas? Am interested in hearing what others have done to move raw data partitions around.
