JDBC driver for Informix 7.23

Hi, I want to access the Informix database from a multithreaded java application, a RMI server. The applets get their data from the RMI server. The JDBC-ODBC bridge from Javasoft/Intersolv does work in this scenario. After accepting the first connection, the RMI server does not accept further connections. Looks like I may have to write a bare-bones JDBC driver using CLI. (1) If anyone has faced this problem, knows a way out, please let me know.
