I haven't seen any Informix documentation but tech support says that LVM and Veritas logical volumes are as good as raw. With larger disks (Seagate 23GBs due to GA soon) and multi-disk RAID-5 devices, Informix's 2GB -o/-s limits force the use of logical volumes. There is certainly an extra layer of fairly complex software (HP recently released some LVM patches because disk status wasn't being propagated) but KAIO should work on raw logical volumes (KAIO has worked on Stratus logical volumes for years). Anyone able to confirm or refute? Doug
