Arizona Informix Users Group News Letter October 1994 INTRODUCTION ------------ The Arizona Informix Users Group (AIUG) was formed in July of 1993 with an initial attendance of 40 people. Since that meeting, we have averaged 25 people at each of our quarterly meetings. The AIUG was formed to provide a forum for the members to exchange ideas on how to use the informix products, convey product enhancements and concerns to informix, build contacts, get hands-on demonstrations of new products, and to establish a knowledge base to draw upon while performing their duties at work. The new format will include a group president and 4 members of the board of directors. MEMBERSHIP ---------- Up to this time, the group has operated without membership dues thanks to Informix providing the meeting facilities and refreshments. In order to cover our expenses, we will be implementing membership dues for 1995. The membership dues will be $50.00 for individuals, and $200.00 per company up to 5 people. USER SURVEY ----------- Over the past year, we have tried to introduce the members to the new informix products and several third-party vendor tools and services. They will be providing insights into how Continuus integrates and utilizes the Informix products into their software. Continuus Software Corporation (formerly Caseware, Inc) of Irvine, CA is a leading provider of client/server change and configuration management systems for software development teams. The company develops and markets Continuus/CM and Continuus/PT, a comprehensive, process-oriented solution used to manage the process of sofware development and ongoing maintance. Continuus sets a new industry standard in change and configuration management, process support, ease of use, flexibility, and scalability to help sofware developers improve team productivity, product quality, and time to market. The product line for Continuus Software has been developed to help manage the entire process life cycle of developing and maintaining software, including: -Confuguration management -Problem tracking -CM methodology support In addition, this system is a true object-oriented, open client/server architecture that supports a wide variety of SCM methodologies, source languages, platforms and operating systems. ELECTION OF OFFICERS -------------------- This year the Arizona Informix Users Group will be changing the configuration of is officer structure. The changes are: POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES --------------------------- --------------------------------- President Overall direction Director-Membership Newsletter, membership, user list Director-Programs Meeting organization, subjects Director-Programs Meeting organization, subjects Director-Programs Meeting organization, subjects These changes reflect the desire to move forward and provide the AIUG with the following commitments of: 1- 6 AIUG meetings per year (instead of 4). 2- Production of a newsletter to all members on a bi-monthly basis. 3- Correspondence with all new users (companies) with invitations to the AIUG meetings. 4- Increase the membership into the AIUG. 5- Better beverages. Nominations and voting of persons for any office (people can be nominated for more than one position) will be made on Oct. 20, 1994 at the AIUG meeting. If you are nominated and not there, oh well to bad for the AIUG. Therefore, persons wanting to be nominated are requested to attend. Relational Database Design Oct 11-12 Structured Query Language Oct 13-14 Developing Apps with 4GL Oct 17-21 Managing and Optimizing Informix Databases Nov 09-11 On-Line v5.0 System Administration Nov 14-18 Developing Apps with ISQL Dec 12-14 Also, Motorola is interested in getting a list of potential attendees to either an On-line 6.0 or 7.0 Systems Administration class which could be held in later this year.
