Logevent.sh (online 7.1)

Can anyone tell me about good/bad experiences using this script for handling log backups? It's documented in the "Guide to 7.1 Feature Enhancements" manual (pp 4-10, 4-11), but there's a comment in the sample script itself that recommends that the script not be used in production ... I called tech support on this today, and they said that they have no idea who wrote the script or where it came from.
