ontape restore fails on second tape

I have several multi-tape archives that all fail on the switch to the second
tape with the error: Physical restore failed - The archive backup is corrupted.
The latest archive is one that I created with no problems.
I think I have seen this problem before but don't remember the solution. Could
be the tape driver, a patch or Informix could have provided a different
version of ontape.
Are you using a no-rewind device? Or was the second part of the archive
written to a location that's not the beginning of the tape? Either can cause
similar problems. The fix to the second problem, at restore time, is to dd the
tape file to the beginning of another tape.
