If you DO have an Informix RDBMS that doesn't have an SQL interface, I can only imagine that it is written using C-ISAM. In both cases you are stuck with the proprietary interfaces. All the responses I have seen so far refer to extracting data through an SQL interface, which apparently you don't have. Not much help, but I fear you are stuck with the problem of manually extracting the data one table at a time.
