Does anyone have hard data (or gut feelings if nothing else), on the performance gains of using mirroring?
Do you mean fragmentation? Mirroring's primary role is recovery. Fragmentation splits the database onto different disks. -CZ Jim Riffe <jriffe@water.ca.gov> wrote in message news:7qela1$78m$1@news.xmission.com... > > Does anyone have hard data (or gut feelings if nothing else), on the > performance gains of using mirroring? > >
Generally mirroring degrades performance, if it impacts on it at all. The only situation where I can think of performance benefits from mirroring us the rather arcane one whereby intensive queries are directed to a mirror rather than the primary disks.
