date format strings

here's a simple one... we're using newera 3.1 and while i think it's probably a bug, i thought i'd run this past some people. when we format any date variable using the "mmm dd" or "ddmmm" formats, it returns null. adding "yy" (or "yyyy") to either of these formats returns the correct result. that's our workaround for now. i couldn't find anything in the docs to support this, but must you always supply a format for the month, day and year in a format string? i've tried using other partial formats with the same result. i thought i've used these partial formats before, but not too certain and we don't have access to a good old 4gl installation to test any further. thanks! -jason
