Tri Yes you can run oninit as root to start up IDS at startup. You would need to set the environment varaibles INFORMIXDIR, PATH, INFORMIXSERVER and ONCONFIG in your script before you do that though. Look at the contents of your /etc/rc.d/init.d (or /etc/init.d or elsewhere, depending on your flavor of Unix) and check out the way the start/stop scripts are created for other services. Just mimic that for Informix start/stop.
