Help with ESQL/C & SCO libsocket.a

I am updating an old application that uses Informix ESQL/C. The problem that I have run into is that ESQL/C wants to link with the libsocket.a library. Informix tells me that SCO used to include libsocket.a in their standard development system. SCO apparently moved libsocket.a to the TCP/IP development system. This is a one-time conversion, the computer is not on a network, and is not likely to be put on one, so I am not inclined to invest in the network development system. The Informix tech support response was that they were aware of the problem, but as the library was not their product, it was outside of their control. I spoke briefly with SCO, they said I should buy the development system. I have searched the SCO BBS, and not found this particular problem, but did find a related one involving Oracle. So, the questions: Has anyone else encountered this problem, and what did you do about it? Do I need to buy the TCP/IP development system, or can I convince SCO to give/sell me just libsocket.a? Can I generate stub functions to get the program to link? Do I need the TCP/IP run-time as well as the development system? System: Compaq 486/66 SCO UNIX System V/386 Release 3.2V4.2 SCO UNIX Development System 3.2V4.2 Informix SE 6.00.UE1 Informix ESQL/C 6.00.UE1 Thanks in advance, Reed. //------------------------------------------------------ // Reed Blake Beta Technology // rblake@ibm.net Industrial & Scientific Computing // Lakewood CO USA
