Fernando, Couldn't they take advantage of CIO, eve in IDS 9 or 10, by mounting the entire filesystem that contains the chunks (or mounting the directory containing the chunk files as an independently mounted sub-directory) with CIO enabled at mount time? I believe they shouldn't... If you activate CIO you're assuming the engine and the tools are ready for it... The OS will not lock the files, so it's up to the engine and it's tools to do things properly. I wouldn't risk it, but I don't have enough knowledge to know what (if any) could happen.
