ON-ARCHIVE simple question
Posted in 1998
I used the High Performance Loader to load a large ASCII file into an Informix database. It worked great. Now I have to do a level 0 archive in order to reset the read only permission on the dbspace. I am trying to use on-archive as simple as possible and send the use as a backup device /dev/null. At this point we do not need to do a backup of the data. I did the following but is giving me an error. onarchive>DEFINE/DBSPACESET=data/DBSPACE=informixdbs (informixdbs is the dbspace name...) onarchive>DEFINE/VSET=null_arch/ACCESSIBILITY=5/CLASS=SYSTEM/DRIVER=DIS/DEVI CE_TYPE=NULL_TYPE/ DEFINE/VOLUME=1 onarchive>ARCHIVE/DBSPACESET=data/LEVEL=0/VSET=null_arch onarchive>EXECUTE/REQUEST=... In the onarchive configuration file I created a new Device type NULL_TYPE /dev/null, I also stoped the oncatlgr and started it again after the changes to the configuration file. It gives me an error 'Permission denied'. Is there an other way to re-set the read only flag to the dbspace after the HPL has been used? I am not sure about the VOLUME, I put 1, since no real tape is being used. Thank you beatrice.rocha@worldnet.att.net
