Hi, WE database1 & database2.In database 1,we table1 with column a,b,c with unique index on a,b,c (no primary key constraint). We need to replicate the table 1 to database2 as reptable1 with column i,a,b,c with unique index on i,a,b,c (no primary constraint)? Please advise that how can i achieve this in IDS9.4(solaris 8) or IDS11.5 (solaris 10). Thanks rgds schillache
If you need to add a column on the copy of the data, then you probably will do this best using triggers on the source table. ER should be able to handle it also, but the configuration will be a bit more complex. Art S. Thanks Kagel. While i go thru the doc of ER,it says that primary key constraint is needed for a table if we need to implement ER for table. If you say as we can achieve thru ER ,then do you mean with unique index itself we can do table replication thru ER ? Please advise. rgds Raja
You must have a primary key constraint...a unique index alone is not good enough. --- On Tue, 4/7/09, SCHIL ACHE <penfriend5@yahoo.co.uk> wrote: From: SCHIL ACHE <penfriend5@yahoo.co.uk> Subject: Table replication [15468] To: ids@iiug.org Date: Tuesday, April 7, 2009, 9:24 PM Hi, WE database1 & database2.In database 1,we table1 with column a,b,c with unique index on a,b,c (no primary key constraint). We need to replicate the table 1 to database2 as reptable1 with column i,a,b,c with unique index on i,a,b,c (no primary constraint)? No, you do need a primary key constraint, but why not add one? There is little cost and the existing UNIQUE index will be used by the constraint, so it's only an administrative change. Art S.
