Jay, I haven't looked at the latest 7.x UNIX installations, but I do know for XPS there are comments in the sysmaster.sql script used during the installation process. These comments are quite valuable, as they are the only source of information about the engine in many instances. I also know of an Informix employee who may be coming out with a book on onstat and some of the engine internals. From the manuscripts I've seen this is something that should be quite valuable to everyone who uses the 7.x and 8.x engines. It is not certain when this book will be available, but further interest here might stimulate the publishing a lot sooner.
