I would first look in the config file and see if shmtotal is set to zero. If it is, that means you are allowing Informix to grab all the memory it thinks it needs. I would change SHMTOTAL to an appropriate value. Be aware that some apps will fail if they require more memory than what you have allowed the engine to grab. Finding the appropriate value for SHMTOTAL is somewhat trial and error. Start by looking at the output from the onstat - command. It will show you how much memory the engine uses. Hope this helps.
