Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
A user on IDS 11.50 (RHEL 5) wanted to identify the IP address of an unknown client machine connected to the server, but 'onstat -g ses' truncated the hostname (js090731) and, with no DNS available, ping returned "unknown host." Suggestions included pinging the name from a Windows box, and correlating 'netstat -a | grep LISTEN' output for the sqlhosts service/port with the session list. The most direct answer came from IBM: query syssessions in the sysmaster database, which shows the full, untruncated hostname.

Dear All...
I've found a strange host in my IDS 11.50.uc6 running in RedHat Enterprise 5,
The following showes the host's seesion informiation :
id user tty pid hostname
1600 informix JS090731 3612 js090731
I know it is js090731 host connect IDS , my question is
how to get the ip address of js090731 in IDS command or shell command
without asking for help of network team ?!
Any suggestions are welcomed ~~
At the OS prompt enter:
ping js090731
The display should show js090731's ip address.

I've tried it , but it showes :
Unknown host JS090731
ping JS090731
Unknown host JS090731.
ping js090731
Unknown host js090731.
I don't have Domain name server in Linux , so I do ping in Windows ,
actually I just found this windows , it is :js090731-ix2k0v ,
because in "onstat -g ses" I can only see js090731 ,
that is why I can not find it ...
May I get longer string of host name in "onstat -g ses" ?

Try with the command:
netstat -a|grep LISTEN |grep <service>
where <service> is the name or port number defined in the sqlhosts tcp
conection.
Whit this information, try to cross with the information of the 'onstat -g ses'

In sysmaster if you select from syssessions then you will get the full
hostname.
