INFORMIX PROVIDES RDBMS TO U.S. COAST GUARD STANDARD WORKSTATION III ACQUISITION PROGRAM Washington DC, (July 17, 1995) -- Informix Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:IFMX), the industry leader in parallel processing database technology, will provide the U.S. Coast Guard high performance secure relational database management systems (RDBMS) technology, application development tools, and end-user access tools with Unisys, winner of the Federal Computer Acquisition Center (FEDCAC) for the U.S. Coast Guard Standard Workstation III Acquisition program. The Standard Workstation III program has an estimated value to Unisys of up to $230 million. This contract marks the largest use of INFORMIX(R)-OnLine Dynamic Server(TM) forthe Microsoft Windows NT operating system to date. Under the terms of the five year requirements contract, the Coast Guard can purchase open systems-based, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) microcomputer hardware, software, communication products, and related services from Unisys. Informix will deliver the database server and tools including OnLine Dynamic Server, INFORMIX-ESQL/C, and INFORMIX-NewEra(R) ViewPoint(TM) Pro. The Informix database system will play a critical role in meeting the Coast Guard's office automation and command and control needs both ashore and afloat. The database will organize the vast amounts of data generated from the workstation and make it available to Coast Guard locations throughout the world. The new contract will supply hardware, software, installation, maintenance, training, documentation, and support services to more than 40,000 Coast Guard active military and civilian users. Up to 10 percent of the total contract value is available to Department of Transporation users and an additional10 percent is available for use by other government agencies.
