Mario, you are a lucky guy ! You have a system to your technical group, its a dream ! We have SAP R/3.0F running in a SUN cluster with Solaris 2.5.1 and Informix 7.23 with Production, Q&A and Development systems. Since R/3 implementation started, SAP showed us how obscure the sizing and configuration process are ! The available documentation is not enough to answer a lot of questions regarding cpu, disk and memory sizing. Just do what SAP is recommending ... When you ask what is the best practice to table allocation they recommend to use default settings. What is your main source of information ? (Web sites, books, etc.) It=B4s a good idea to create a forum or a user group for Informix DBA=B4s supporting R/3. Regards.
