Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Kurt Van Gompel reported users disconnected with error -25580, ISAM -54 and asked the session timeout. Alexandre Marini said there is no default timeout and such errors point to the network. Art Kagel said errno 54 usually means connection reset, from an engine bounce, idle-session task or onmode -z. The ISP had added a connection timeout. Solved.

Hello,
Since a few days now, we regularly hear from users that their are disconnected
from the database with error -25580, isam -54.
Does anyone now what is the timeout after which Informix disconnects a session?
Thanks in advance!!
Hi, there is no default timeout for sessions, unless you specify a method of
disconnecting idle sessions intenally in IBM Informix.
You did not mention what version you are, so we cannot tell you if this
feature is available for your box.
Errors 25580, 27001 are best related to external network services interrupted,
than to Informix engine directly.
Hope it helps.
Regards.

Kurt:
Version and platform are always helpful.
On most platforms (but not all) errno 54 is "Connection reset by peer"
which would indicate that Informix disconnected the user's session. That
could be for several reasons, some obvious:
1. The engine bounced.
2. You have an idle session task running that disconnected it.
3. Someone ran an onmode -z for that session.

Hi,
We found out that our internet service provider had configured a connection
timeout recently without telling us.
That's why our users were disconnected after some idle time.
Thanks for your responses!!!
