Re: Motif and esql

What Jonathan points out is what I am recommending to avoid. By separating your code in to functional groups, you eliminate a lot of headaches. If you think about it, it makes perfect sense and good software engineering practice to issolate your code and allow for some abstraction. For example, in my higher level routines, I say draw_box(x,y,w,l,border) in my function of code. Then in my function of draw_box, I say move_to(x,y); draw_to(x',y'); ... etc ... Then in a lower level of abstraction I write the actual drawing base routines. The same theory works for coding applications. In using Motif and ESQL/C, by applying this technique, I could create a set of database calls in a library and link it in. If my code is generic enough, I can change the lower level library out and hit either a different database or flat file without having to change my higher level code. Does this make sense? -Mikey Jonathan Leffler wrote: > > Well, I'm using ESQL/C with NewEra code, and I can get it to pick up > X and Motif and ESQL/C and NewEra libraries OK...
