Logbackup failed - Error reading from the disk

Hi, One of my test instance is giving following error while taking logs backup "Logbackup failed - Error reading from the disk, Error No. = 4." I am unable to backup logical logs and logs are full. IDS Version - 11.50.FC8W3 OS Version - SUN Solaris. It would appear you have a disk failure on the disk containing the chunks which are holding your logical logs. If this had been mirrored (by raid or the engine) you could have replaced the disk, re-silvered and continued. As it is I suspect you will have to recover from an archive (after repacing the failed disk), However, as your first post indicated this is a test system then this shold not be too painful or involve business affecting loss of data. This is the critical message: 00:42:39 I/O read chunk 4, pagenum 922228, pagecnt 64 --> errno = 2 There was a read error trying to read the logdbs chunk. You can try using dd to read that chunk file/device to see if you can get a better error message and go from there. If the disk/file/lun is bad, then you may have to try to archive your instance, recreate the log chunk on good disk, and restore the server. If you have to do that, I would take a dbexport of all databases for safety first so that worst case you can rebuild the server from the exports. If nothing is wrong with the chunk, then open a PMR with IBM Support and see what they find. Art Art S.
