I went through similar upgrades more than Once. The repsonses that have been posted cover most of the problems. I seam to remember a problem with the porting of the data on on upgrade (ver 2 to 4.1) where the base architecture also differed. We were moving from some ancient Unisys machine to an Intel platform. The Decimal/Integer values would unload incorrectly, resulting in having to create unload files using 4GL reports. Depending on your code there in not a hell of a lot that can go wrong. There was one system though where there were more than 15 nested IF statements which would not recompile under 4.1. Simply breaking up the code into functions and sub functions did the Job. Best of Luck! PS Why Informix 6 and not 7? Dennis JR Harding (djrh@icon.co.za)
