ESQL: Cannot complile demo program (link error)

I am running SCO 3.2v4.2 and GNU C and have just installed ESQL ver 5.0, and get the following error on linking decconv.c undefined ref to 'ecvt'. I've tried compiling and linking separately to now avail. Can anyone out there offer any suggestions? I've tried everything I can think of. Thanks in advance, Kate
