Problem with forms after upgrade

Howdy, after upgrading from 5x to 7x (what a nightmare!) there are some forms that no longer work as they did before. the current problem is: i have a form that has both database and formonly fields. which in general seems ok, except that one of the formonly fields is required. even when there is data in this field, i get the error msg 'This field requires an entered value' after i press <cr> on the last field. i'd sure appreciate any help you can offer. \\\\//_
