Currently we have our application running on a Windows 2000 Server
using Informix 9.3. We have around 12 Disks and the dbspaces are
distributed across these disks. The Dbspace path are as follows :-
42b68918 1 1 0 128000 73422 PO-
c:\\ifmxdata\\rootdbs.d01
4309c558 2 2 0 125000 57 PO-
f:\\ifmxdata\\cTrxn01.d01
4309e9f0 27 27 0 275000 205883 PO-
j:\\ifmxdata\\otrxn03.d01
430a02e8 44 44 0 75000 66786 PO-
m:\\ifmxdata\\stmtlinks02.d01
430a1018 53 53 0 50000 28935 PO-
j:\\ifmxdata\\stmt07.d01
430a52e8 66 66 0 125000 99197 PO-
n:\\ifmxdata\\applog09.d01
...
...
If I want to restore the Windows Level 0 in a Unix Box , can I create a
similar dbspace file in the Unix box and directly restore the Level 0
backup. I am trying to aviod doing a dbexport/dbimport between the
Windows and Unix Box.
I think if we create a link file in the name c:\\ifmxdata\\rootdbs.01 in
unix which will point to the actual rootdbs in a Raw Partition or a
Unix File system we should be able to directly restore the level 0.
Please comment on this.

you can't use an archive to move between Windows and UNIX
There is a section in the manual dedicated to migrating between
different operating systems

Choose one of the following sets of migration utilities to unload the
databases:
dbexport and dbimport
