Restoring same database to multiple database instances on same dbserver

We are currently using Informix Dynamic Server version 7.3 in our production environment. We want to be able to take a tape backup of the production database and lay it into multiple database instances on the same development database server. Our understanding is that because Informix takes the dataspace name; that the same database cannot be populated to multiple instances on the same dbserver from the same tape backup. Is there anyway to remove the dataspace name either in the backup or restore process to allow me to have the same database in multiple instances on one dbserver?

No. It's an irritating feature of the software that you must restore to
exactly the same chunk names.
However, once you've got the first server in place you could use HPL or
onunload/onload to make the copies.
What about ON-Bar? Will this tool provide the result I am looking for?
