Hi, I am trying to purge sysutils database using onsmsync but I hardly find any difference after onsmsync finishes. OS HPUX 11.11 DB IDS 9.40 FC9 The process I follow is backing up ixbar.SN file, purging the records in the ixbar file & invoking an onsmsync Does this really work? Or do I have to manually delete rows from bar_object table. Has anybody tried clearing sysutils db using onsmsync? Thanks, Prashant.

RTFM :-/ onsmsync --- onsmsync usage [-g <gen> | -t <time> | -i <interval>] [-s] [-O] [-f <filename> | <spaces>] -b -b just regenerate the emergency bootfile -f pathname of file containing list of storage spaces -g number of generations/versions of level 0 backup to retain -i time interval (age) before which objects should be expired -t datetime before which objects should be expired -s skip syncing objects that are already expired from storage manager. -O override internal error checks - enforce policy strictly <spaces> list of storage spaces to check for expiration What are you trying to achieve? Perhaps ... onsmsync -g 2 Obviously, think about what you are trying to achieve, 'cos losing backup versions (or generations) is pretty ... final.

Thanks, Prashant.
Isn't the data in sysutils used for warm restores? Why keep a months worth of data? If you have to restore from a month ago, you'd do a cold restore from the information kept in, or put into, the ixbar file. --- fun-do <prashatt@gmail.com> wrote: > On Jan 10, 4:51 pm, "TBP (The Big Potato)" > <T...@NotHere.Co.Uk> wrote: > > fun-do wrote: > > > Hi, > > > > > I am trying to purge sysutils database using > onsmsync but I hardly > > > find any difference after onsmsync finishes. > > > OS HPUX 11.11 > > > DB IDS 9.40 FC9 > > > > > The process I follow is > > > > > backing up ixbar.SN file, > > > purging the records in the ixbar file & > > > invoking an onsmsync > > > > > Does this really work?
