If you need to update *all* the rows in the admin.subc table, then try: UPDATE admin.subc SET admin.subc.deal_key = "NVD" WHERE admin.subc.CHAS_KEY in (select chas from dblog1.eire) Otherwise, you will need to specify (hard-code) what value (or values) you expect dblog1.eire.CHAS_KEY to be in the WHERE clause.
