A searchable WWW USENET newsgroups archive

We at Northeast Parallel Architecture Center (NPAC), Syracue University have developed an archive system for searching/reading USENET newsgroups, mailing lists and personal mailbox from WWW. An Oracle database server is used to store/manage mails and two search/navigation interfaces accesible by any WWW browser to the archive are provided: one is an advanced search interface allowing queries with various options such as query by mail header, by date, by subject (keywords), by sender. The other is a Hypermail-like navigation interface for users familiar with Hypermail. We offer free access to this archive for the Internet community. Check the URL <URL:http://asknpac.npac.syr.edu>; or <URL:http://128.230.144.19>;. The whole archive is automatically updated in every hour. Currently the following newsgroups/mailing lists (total 86) are archived in the database, including this newsgroup/mailing-group: (..) shows the current total number of mails archived in the database alt.comp.compression (107) bit.listserv.db2-l (177) comp.ai (638) comp.ai.neural-nets (396) comp.ai.philosophy (862) comp.arch (832) comp.benchmarks (328) comp.compression (641) comp.compression.research (47) comp.databases (1153) comp.databases.ibm-db2 (109) comp.databases.informix (701) comp.databases.ingres (363) comp.databases.ms-access (2932) comp.databases.object (282) comp.databases.olap (161) comp.databases.oracle (4171) comp.databases.paradox (857) comp.databases.sybase (855) comp.databases.xbase.fox (1039) comp.dcom.cell-relay (373) comp.dcom.frame-relay (264) comp.dcom.isdn (1727) comp.dcom.lans.fddi (102) comp.dcom.lans.misc (149) comp.dcom.net-management (160) comp.dcom.servers (194) comp.dcom.sys.cisco (1618) comp.dcom.telecom (584) comp.dcom.videoconf (236) comp.graphics.visualization (243) comp.infosystems (181) comp.infosystems.gis (729) comp.infosystems.www.advocacy (398) comp.infosystems.www.announce (1362) comp.infosystems.www.authoring.cgi (2982) comp.infosystems.www.authoring.html (6834) comp.infosystems.www.authoring.images (1088) comp.infosystems.www.authoring.misc (1084) comp.infosystems.www.browsers.mac (989) comp.infosystems.www.browsers.misc (875) comp.infosystems.www.browsers.ms-windows (3275) comp.infosystems.www.browsers.x (707) comp.infosystems.www.misc (1770) comp.infosystems.www.servers.mac (426) comp.infosystems.www.servers.misc (398) comp.infosystems.www.servers.ms-windows (1004) comp.infosystems.www.servers.unix (1330) comp.lang.basic.visual.database (1178) comp.lang.basic.visual.misc (4778) comp.lang.c (1990) comp.lang.c++ (6251) comp.lang.fortran (792) comp.lang.java (3330) comp.lang.oberon (266) comp.lang.perl.announce (35) comp.lang.perl.misc (3144) comp.lang.rexx (491) comp.multimedia (2029) comp.os.ms-windows.programmer.misc (2723) comp.os.ms-windows.programmer.tools (627) comp.os.ms-windows.programmer.win32 (2142) comp.os.ms-windows.setup (1072) comp.parallel (168) comp.parallel.mpi (89) comp.parallel.pvm (181) comp.protocols.tcp-ip (698) comp.security.misc (978) comp.software-eng (894) comp.sources.unix (24) comp.sys.sgi.graphics (385) comp.sys.sun.admin (968) comp.unix.admin (1352) comp.unix.aix (2193) comp.unix.misc (643) comp.unix.programmer (1129) comp.unix.solaris (3393) hotjava-interest (mailing-list) (828) java-announce (mailing-list) (8) java-interest (mailing-list) (1799) java-porting (mailing-list) (321) perldb-interest (mailing-list) (245) sp-discussion (mailing-list) (224) syr.general (247) win95-l (mailing-list) (2655) www-vrml (mailing-list) (3763) Total archives: 86 Total Messages: 101766 This system is still under development and more functions are planned to add to this system.
