about virtual processors

hi all: Could someone explain a little bit about virtual processors and their configurations? I am running workgroup dynamic server on sun solairs 2.6 with 2 sparce 300 mhz cpu and 256 meg of rams. how many vp should i assign to io and cpu, what's the relationship, and how does that improve my performance? thanks a lot, if not too much trouble please cc to email also. thank you. yan
