I prefer hard links myself for doing the above... anyway, it sounds like your permissions are NFG. The permissions should be set to: chmod 0660 /dev/informixrawdev1 chown informix /dev/informixrawdev1 chgrp informix /dev/informixrawdev1 DAS -- David A.
