BOGUS 710 ERROR

We are using Informix 7.22TC1 on Windows NT 4.0. When we add a new table to a database, other users connected to the database get error 710, even though they are not referring to the newly created table. Not only that,the error message is misleading. Suppose a user is inserting into table1 when a new table is being added in the database, the error message he gets is "Error 710: table <table2> altered or dropped". Why the error message refers to table2 when it is table1 which is being used. We tested this with Informix SQL editor client tool on NT. Has anyone encountered this problem before. TIA. Ravi.
