BLOBspace?

I want to use Informix Online 7.2 to store X509 Certificate. I use "dbaccess" to create a table, input column name---certificate, then I choose type: Variable-length->Byte->BLOBspace, it prompts me to input blob space name , so I input a random string(such as:abc, or /u/informix/mywork). When I build the new table, it shows : 606:Invalid blob space name. 162:ISAM err:BLOBspace does not exist. What's wrong? Does BLOBspace can not be used to store binary certificate?
