On the IIUG site is a great program called dbcopy. It is in the file called
utils2_ak, named after the author, Art Kagel.

Subject: ONLOAD/ONUNLOAD QUESTIONS
Hi all,
I need to make a copy of the database on the production machine to the
development machine. I cannot restore a level 0 since, my dbspace structures
are
different ( we recently added new disks/dbspaces on prod m/c ). Here are my
questions
1. If I use ONUNLOAD to unload to tape, will it lock the database in
exclusive mode ( I tested it on my dev m/c and it doesn't ), but the
Migration
guide ( 7.2 ) says that is does
2. The database on the source m/c is on 3 dbspaces and the dev on 2
dbspaces. How will ONLOAD handle this. Can it load on to 2 dbspaces ? And
how
will it know what data to load onto each dbspace.
Anyway, seems to me that ONLOAD/ONUNLOAD may not work. So, I may have to
use
the DBEXPORT/DBIMPORT method, but I understand that DBEXPORT locks the
database
in exclusive mode. Is that true ? I need to have people accessing the
database
while I am running my entire copy process. The only other alternative I can
think of is to write dbschema and load for all tables ( 1000 of them ).
Can anyone think of any better solutions ???
Thanks
Sujata
