select of a SmartBlob
Posted in 1998
I got a strange message when I try to select a blob from a table in another
database than the one I'm connected to. (This is on Universal Server
9.12.UC3)
I have two databases (say B1 and B2).
In the first one (B1) a table is created by :
>>> create table test ( id serial, img BLOB) put img in
(sbs_img) ;
(This SQL creates the table and defines that the image data is stored in the
sbs_img SmartBlobSpace.)
Then, a row is inserted into that table, using the folowing command
>>> insert into test( img) values ( filetoblob( ' test.gif ','client'));
To check that the image can be accessed, I laungh ' dbaccess B1', then type
>>> select * from test;
I got the result:
<<< id 1
<<< logo <SBlob Data>
<<<
<<< 1 row(s) retrieved.
Ok
Then I try
>>> select * from B1:test;
I got the result:
<<< id 1
<<< logo <SBlob Data>
<<<
<<< 1 row(s) retrieved.
still OK.
Next, I start dbaccess and connect to the B2 database.
When I execute
>>> select * from B1:test;
I got the result:
<<< 999: Not implemented yet.
but when I type
>>> select id from B1:test;I got the correct result:
<<< id 1
<<<
<<< 1 row(s) retrieved.
Is there anybody who can explain the reason why,
or has any idea to correct this kind of problem ?
Thank you

PS:
> I have to say that we *MUST* do such a command. We must work on two
different databases.
> This problem pointed out when we uses the Web Datablade Module, but the
sequence shown here proves that this datablade is not the faulty one ...
