Hi, I'm working with a ANSI compliant database in Informix Dynamic Server and I need to reference a table without to write its owner. I want to write: 'select * from table' not: 'select * from owner.table' How can I do that ? I'll thank you your answer. Bye Carlos - cdo@unsl.edu.ar

Change the logging mode of the database to BUFFERED or UNBUFFERED. ANSI mode databases require the use of a table's owner in order to reference the table, sorry. Art S. Kagel
Also, it isn't as easy as it sounds to change the loggin mode. You can't
change a database from ANSI mode by just doing an ontape command. You'll
actually have to create a new database and load your data into it.

Kagel What about using separate views for each user ? Each view would contain a whole table. This way the use of a table's owner would not be necessary... Chris
