Question re Backing Logical Logs to disk -Reply

If UNIX, 'touch' a file in the directory, and include the file name in the LTAPDEV string.
If NT, create a file w/no content, and include the file name in the LTAPDEV string.

I would like to back up my logical logs to disk rather than tape.
I've changed my device through onmonitor to a directory. I get a message that says ontape
cannot write to tape device. I know this can be done. What is the trick to it?
