multiple accept keys, please help
Posted in 1996
Dear fellow Informixers, I know this has been discussed before (I found more than one thread on the subject at www.iiug.org), but a large input statements I'm writing needs to be able to be terminated by more than one accept key. The idea is to terminate the input statement & then do some other processing that is function of the key pressed by the user. Easy, up to here. The bad part is that I need the input statement to behave just as if the accept key had been pressed, that is go thru the relevant after field/after input clause before exiting. Code replication within on key clauses is out of the question: I have far to many after field clauses (and a far too large data validation code) for this to be practical. What I really need is a way to instruct the input statement to "finish" (as opposite to exit), or a way to push an accept key into the input buffer. The best thing I've come out with up to now is to force an accept key in the input stream by redirecting this latter to a file (freopen to a file) and back (freopen to ctermid) after the input statement or if the input statement needs to be continued. Inelegant. OS dependent. Release dependent. Any idea? (please, please, please!!!) TIA, marco PS: while I'm at it, I would like to express my appreciation to Walt Hultgren for putting up yet another very usefull site for the Informix comunity. ____________________________________________________________________________ rem radioterapia, which I immeritately manage, seldom agrees with what I say marco greco (Catania, Italy) Work: marcog@ctonline.it (preferred) rem radioterapia 39 95 447828 fax 446558 mar.greco@agora.stm.it Achea 39 95 503117
