Is table or database level backup possible?

Hi. We are running 7.20 on HP-UX 10.01. I am new to Informix and have a question about backup/restore. It appears that I can use ontape to backup the instance, but I must restore the whole instance to get a single database or table back. I was thinking about doing an ontape and also dbexporting all of the databases and letting them get backed up with the regular file system backups. How do others backup/configure their instances to allow the restoration of single tables or databases? Is there 3rd party software that will help with this? Thanks for the help.
