First, the request was for a 4GL work-alike. No way anyone can describe mSQL as this; while it has a sort-of procedural programming language, it bears absolutely NO resemblance to 4GL. Second, while I think mSQL is a really neat piece of s/ware, let's be serious here. In terms of capacity and functionality, it can't do what the Informix engine could do in 1989. Not surprising, and I'm not knocking mSQL by saying this. If it meets your needs, fine. It's a great product (I d/loaded the latest beta last week) and has a lot of uses, particularly in the Web area for small databases. But an Informix replacement for anything above the small and simple....no. Not hardly. I'm looking at using it anyway, because I have some small projects that I think will work well, it runs on Linux and it's free. Since what I'm doing is supporting a Third World infant testing lab, giving them my database and charging them $4K++ for the Informix/SCO software hurts. Peter Wiley
