I have heard from IBM anecdotally (sp?) that they sell more DB2 on Windows than any other platform. ( But also consider the volume of traffic here vs comp.databases.ibm-db2, easily 5 times the volume. ) > Note that IBM has no problem releasing the figures of Db2 on mainframe > and that too with pride. > >> Sounds like pure bullshit to me, >> since IBM hasn't released anything officially to substantiate your >> claims. > > I have little interest in flame war between DB2 and Informix on LUW. > One is waning despite being vastly superior and the other one is still not > taken seriously by the market. > I wouldn't say Informix is vastly superior to DB2, both are good products, but one has more of a chance than the other in the market. > I will say you are wasting your time pimping for DB2/LUW. I work in an environment where there is a lot of all it; Oracle, DB2, Teradata, MySQL, SQL-Server, IBM z/OS, just oceans of servers all doing different things. The real winner seems to be EMC, they are everywhere. But I've also noticed how UNIX is saying bye-bye, and Linux is taking center stage. In our environment Linux is considered the only platform for new servers, phasing out the UNIX systems over time. And a lot of that push is coming from young people who get it. Look at ADIC backup systems, running Linux under the hood, very slick systems. > TD - [ formerly known as rkusenet ] > > >> Posting this in a backwater newsgroup is gossip, put it in >> the trade rags and back it up with some proof.
