Switching RSS Servers

Hi Everyone, IDS 11.70.FC7W3X3 O/S AIX 6.1 I have a scenario in which I have 3 servers in RSS replication, rss1 is the "primary" where the other 2 get their changes from rss2 is a replicate of rss1 rss3 is a replicate of rss1 My question is if rss1 goes down for any reason, can I switch rss2 to be the "primary in the rss world hence rss3 would then be a replicate of rss2? Also if rss1 came back up would it be able to connect as a replicate to rss2 at that point? thanx, dan
What you have to do is to promote RSS2 to be an HDR secondary then from HDR to primary. An RSS can't go directly to primary. You really should be running RSS2 as an HDR secondary normally with RSS3 as an RSS secondary unless the communications between RSS1 & RSS2 is not fast and reliable. Then if RSS1 fails you upgrade RSS2 to primary and RSS2 to HDR. If RSS1 fails upgrade RSS3 to HDR to back up RSS1. Art Art S. Hi, As Dan is running 11.70.FC7 I think HDR would be viable across a slow link by using ASYNC mode with the new HDR_TXN_SCOPE parameter or setting DRINTERVAL to a non-zero value. I think there are some improvements in handling poor or flaky connections over previous versions, which would have forced the use of RSS.
