It's a bug...probably. Check Informix is installed correctly.
Also get the name of the communication protocol you are using
from $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts...it will be something like
sesoctcp or sesoctcp. Then check in $INFORMIXDIR/release/SE_6.0
that the protocol is supported under your version of SE.
I have found this problem when using named pipes under SE7.1 when
named pipes were not supported on the version of SE.
