Thank you Thomas - I will not mess around with sysmaster! I've found out that on NT the user has to be part of the Informix-Admin group in order to log in, BUT this is only when I am in the Administrator account (NT's equivalent of 'root'). As soon as I try to log in as the new user that previously worked when I was logged into the NT Administrator account. I get the following error: - 461 Cannot open file 'sql.iem' This file is most definately accessable by this new user - I just opened it. GRANT CONNECT was also run for this new user. Any clue? heidi Thomas J. Girsch wrote in message <3613cd5c.0@news.one.net>... >Heidi - > >Don't mess with sysmaster!!
