Bulk updates from a file

Is there a way to do bulk updates of a table (not inserts) from a file. A table has 5 columns, 3 of which are filled in by one application. From another (foreign) db, an ascii file is made containing the data for the other two columns. What I need is something like dbload, but that does updates to selected columns rather than inserts.
